Tubonika is a young, talented duo with a successful approach to redefining the sound of traditional folk music – and in doing so, igniting an infectious musical firework. The Styrian duo is on a quest to create something out of the ordinary and has found its destiny in connecting the old with the new. Respectfully breaking with tradition, the two young musicians Jonny Kölbl (Styrian Accordion) and Tobias Weiß (tuba) bring old traditional folk music into the now, mixing it with elements from other forms and styles of music.
The pieces of Tubonika include sounds from jazz, classical music, world music and even pop. An unusual musical mix that captivates the listener from the very first second. Tubonika were selected as a NASOM “New Austrian Sound of Music” act for 2020/21.
