Trio
That folk music doesn’t always have to sound the same but can take on new forms through different instruments is something Quetsch ’n’ Vibes demonstrates in an impressive way. Jonny Kölbl (Styrian Accordion), Leo Waltersdorfer (vibraphone, mbira, handpan) and Hannes Schöggl (marimbaphone) rethink Austria’s traditional music and have made it their mission to bring the Styrian Accordion into a variety of musical styles. With their unique arrangements and original compositions, the trio opens up to new influences, transforming tradition into something fresh and unexpected. Their sound shines in vibrant musical colors – rooted yet boundless, familiar yet excitingly new. A bold reinterpretation of the known.
Duo
That folk music is not bound to a fixed sound but can unfold in unexpected colors through new instrumentation is at the heart of this program. Alpine and Nordic traditions merge with the shimmering tones of the vibraphone, the earthy resonance of the mbira and the ethereal depth of the handpans.
Melodies from the past intertwine with contemporary influences, tradition is gently reshaped. Through creative arrangements and original compositions, a musical space emerges – one that honors the familiar while opening new perspectives. Rooted yet boundless, always in motion. A sonic journey between mountains and open horizons.
